Eclipse Season and Mercury Retrograde Endings, and the Importance of Reading Tarot When There's Nothing Wrong | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 240

In this episode of the Secrets of a Witch Podcast, I talk about the importance of reading cards and connecting with spirit all the time - even and especially when we aren't in crisis or dealing with any bad surprises.

When we read tarot cards and touch in spiritually even when we have 'no reason' to, we can get a heads up when things are about to nosedive or turn sour, and prepare ourselves for the downturn. I also talk about how healthy, empowered feminine energy quickly reveals what is in a man - so we don't get dragged along in multi-year long relationships with avoidant, emotionally unavailable men.

When we occupy a space of healed, healthy, anchored feminine energy (balanced with masculine energy), it tends to trigger and reveal the unhealthiness/toxicity in men. (Apologies to men listening to this, LOL - switch up the language to get something out of what I'm saying!)

I also give some suggestions of what kinds of questions to ask your cards when you want to reveal what is currently hidden and unavailable to you. Tarot can absolutely be predictive - it's okay to work with it to show us what we don't see, and what may reveal itself in our future, if there's no intervention.

How to Avoid Avoidants: What to Look Out For When You're Single and Dating (Part 2: Self-Loathing and Shame) | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 237

After my first podcast episode on this went viral, I've since learned many more things about avoidant attachment, and some huge warning signs you absolutely need to know in order to keep yourself protected and your heart safe in this hectic dating landscape.

In this episode I talk about how avoidants tend to dislike themselves, and can even occupy a regular space of self loathing, self-hatred, and putting others on pedestals. This is not about you, do not be flattered by them putting you on a pedestal.

If they are intimidated by you and devalue themselves, this actually makes it more likely for them to leave. If this is the case, they will likely leave the relationship in a sudden, unexpected way with absolutely no warning or obvious reason. Their shame is often too great for them to connect with you despite their discomfort. They will also bring up their ex all the time for no reason - which is a sign of emotional unavailability.

Still up for giving it a go with someone who has avoidant attachment, or maybe have avoidant attachment yourself? Give this episode of my podcast a listen and learn more about how to notice avoidant people in the dating landscape.

Say No To The Outrage Olympics. Reclaim Your Time And Energy | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 236

Did you know that participating in the endless outrage olympics pumped out by social media and the news is completely optional?

It's possible to stay informed about global happenings while also not losing our minds, having mental breakdowns, engaging in hateful pile-ons online, and more.

It seems like a lot of folks these days do not realize that we can opt out of the endless cycles of outrage, and step away from whatever current event the media cycle of today is pushing everyone to react to.

Reclaim your time and energy, reclaim your power over your own emotions and life.

Does Where You Put Your Attention Align With Your Intention? | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 235

In this episode of The Secrets of a Witch Podcast, I discuss the importance of aligning our attention with our intention. Many people these days seem to be addicted to (and easily sucked into) mindless content online, or even outrage olympics rage bait online.

Instead of spending hours arguing on the internet or scrolling through cat videos from the entire time you get off work til when you go to bed, ask yourself - what else could you be doing with your time? Don't you have something to create, something to do, something to learn, or even something restful that would actually replenish and revive you?

Controlling and containing our own energy and attention is crucial when we consider what it takes to have a good life where we fulfill and execute on our purpose and passion.

Is There Healthy Aggression? The Importance of Warrior Energy and the Survival Instinct | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 234

We are in a society where most kinds of aggression and masculinity are demonized and denigrated as bad, evil, or unhealthy. But is there such a thing as healthy aggression?

In this episode, I talk about the importance of viciousness, standing up for ourselves, fighting back (when necessary and from a healthy place), the survival instinct, and what I call warrior energy.

Knowing which fights to get into (and why) is a big part of this. Unfortunately, much aggressive raw survival energy is wasted on stupid online arguments and pointless protests.

In this episode, I explore what warrior energy means and can look like in the contemporary world, what causes our lack of it (and extreme misdirection of it when it's present), and where we can channel this energy instead (and why we should be aware of any of this at all).

Do No Harm, Take No Shit: A 2026 Mantra (aka The Year of Having A Backbone) | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 233

There is this strange idea floating around that spiritual people need to be docile doormats, or never stand up for ourselves when we are attacked.

In this episode, I talk about how important it is to stand up for ourselves when it is necessary and warranted to do so.

In 2026, I want all of y'all to feel comfortable and justified in standing up for yourselves.

Standing up for yourself is not 'doing harm' to someone else. It is important that we are able to embody warrior energy, and not start fights, but finish them when we are in the right circumstances. Step into your power and confidence in 2026!

Heal Your Childhood Dysfunction, Heal and Change Your Life | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 232

In this episode, I discuss dysfunctional family systems and how what we learn in childhood can follow us around forever, unless we take steps to move outside of these wounds, traumas, assumptions, and dysfunctions. I discuss examples of how this can impact how we interact in the workplace, in our friendships, and in our romantic relationships. Includes recommendations for resources to understand these dynamics.

When Someone Breaks Up With You, Let Them. Why We Need To Let Go Of Closure | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 230

In this episode of the Secrets of a Witch podcast, I discuss something we all experience at least once in our lives - the ending of relationships! Whether it's romantic or friendship, we've all had relationships end, and many of us have been dumped. I talk about how the best way to approach being dumped or left is simply to accept it, rather than fight it or seeking endless conversations and closure. I talk about how closure should come from within ourselves, and we should not rely on others for our own healing process and ability to move on. Closure is within you, nowhere else.

Most People Do Magic For The Wrong Reasons. Do You? | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 229

A lotta witches are miserable, unhappy, and ungrounded - they do magic for the wrong reasons, such as emotional instability, pettiness, anger, jealousy, or something else. Magic can absolutely be worked with to help us heal from trauma (as I talk about in my second graphic novel Bodymagic), however it seems that many people in witchcraft land aren't using magic to heal, but rather to further entrench themselves in their own negative habits, mindsets, and unhealthy ways of thinking. Our magic is limited by our own state of mind. In this episode, I discuss the state of witchy community, and how I think we can all work with magic in better, healthier ways.

Is Forgiveness Necessary For Healing Trauma? | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 228

Is forgiveness necessary or relevant when we are healing our trauma, our shadows, and our wounds? Do we need to forgive family members, or anyone who has hurt us in the past? In this episode, I discuss my own healing journey, and how forgiveness - though it was not on my radar at all, and was not something I strived for - somehow happened to me anyway. Is forgiveness necessary for your journey? I explain why or why not, and offer a perspective contrary to what we tend to see in a lot of pop psych woo woo spaces. With so many people seeing family this holiday season, it seems a relevant topic to discuss!

How a Pantry Audit and Using What You Have Can Connect You With Gratitude and Abundance Energy | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 226

In this episode, I take some inspiration from my brand new book of mundane magic rituals, A Witch at Home! In preparation for cozy season, I discuss an important ritual that's become a part of my lifestyle - regular audits of the pantry, freezer, and fridge! I discuss how this relates to magic and energetics, and how using what we have (whether it's that can of beans at the back of the pantry, or the soup at the back of the freezer, or the half-done lipstick in our makeup bag) can connect us deeply to the energy of gratitude and abundance. Yes, it's everyday stuff - but trust me, when we notice magic in the every day, our life can drastically change for the better.

Samhain Magic, A Weird Gabby Bernstein Talk in Toronto, Trauma vs Spirituality, and Perspective | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 224

Happy Samhain and Happy Halloween! I start off this episode by talking about how to work with the energy of this moment, and some ritual ideas for this coming weekend. I then - after sharing a few special deals that end today and Monday - discuss a very weird talk I went to last night, by renowned woo woo person Gabby Bernstein! I have been positive-neutral on her, but the talk really left a bad taste in my mouth; I explain how and why that was the case, as well as what that means for people who are very traumatized and seeking healing and help. Should you get therapy or just focus on manifestation? In my opinion, for people in active crisis, they need therapy, not manifestation. I discuss scope creep as well as critique some cult psychology and trauma dumping I experienced in the talk I went to. I end the podcast episode by talking about the importance of perspective, and approaching even unpleasant situations with curiosity.

No, It's Not Ethical To Curse Someone For A Difference of Opinion, Or Political Purity and Witchcraft Today | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 222

In this episode, I discuss how the feminist magazine Jezebel paid Etsy witches to curse Charlie Kirk, and use this to get into a larger issue in the witchcraft and pagan community at large right now - the idea that it is ethical to curse someone for a difference of opinion. The quest for "political purity" within left wing woke witchcraft communities is something we should all be denouncing. Witches are too concerned with aggressively wielding power against those they don't like, and need to take some time and space to ground ourselves in ethics and true morals, and remember what witchcraft is really about - healing ourselves and living a good life. Witchcraft is not about cursing people we disagree with, period.

Witches Shouldn't Be Celebrating Assassination and Cursing People We Disagree With | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 221

In this episode, I continue discussing the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and I talk about the witchcraft community's response to it. Many famous witches have been celebrating Charlie's murder, and mere days before the assassination, the feminist magazine Jezebel paid some Etsy witches to curse/hex Charlie Kirk. As witches, we should not be condoning this behaviour, and it is important we extricate this rot and toxicity from witchcraft spaces; this work is unethical.
