Is There Healthy Aggression? The Importance of Warrior Energy and the Survival Instinct | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 234

We are in a society where most kinds of aggression and masculinity are demonized and denigrated as bad, evil, or unhealthy. But is there such a thing as healthy aggression?

In this episode, I talk about the importance of viciousness, standing up for ourselves, fighting back (when necessary and from a healthy place), the survival instinct, and what I call warrior energy.

Knowing which fights to get into (and why) is a big part of this. Unfortunately, much aggressive raw survival energy is wasted on stupid online arguments and pointless protests.

In this episode, I explore what warrior energy means and can look like in the contemporary world, what causes our lack of it (and extreme misdirection of it when it's present), and where we can channel this energy instead (and why we should be aware of any of this at all).

Do No Harm, Take No Shit: A 2026 Mantra (aka The Year of Having A Backbone) | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 233

There is this strange idea floating around that spiritual people need to be docile doormats, or never stand up for ourselves when we are attacked.

In this episode, I talk about how important it is to stand up for ourselves when it is necessary and warranted to do so.

In 2026, I want all of y'all to feel comfortable and justified in standing up for yourselves.

Standing up for yourself is not 'doing harm' to someone else. It is important that we are able to embody warrior energy, and not start fights, but finish them when we are in the right circumstances. Step into your power and confidence in 2026!

Heal Your Childhood Dysfunction, Heal and Change Your Life | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 232

In this episode, I discuss dysfunctional family systems and how what we learn in childhood can follow us around forever, unless we take steps to move outside of these wounds, traumas, assumptions, and dysfunctions. I discuss examples of how this can impact how we interact in the workplace, in our friendships, and in our romantic relationships. Includes recommendations for resources to understand these dynamics.

Is Forgiveness Necessary For Healing Trauma? | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 228

Is forgiveness necessary or relevant when we are healing our trauma, our shadows, and our wounds? Do we need to forgive family members, or anyone who has hurt us in the past? In this episode, I discuss my own healing journey, and how forgiveness - though it was not on my radar at all, and was not something I strived for - somehow happened to me anyway. Is forgiveness necessary for your journey? I explain why or why not, and offer a perspective contrary to what we tend to see in a lot of pop psych woo woo spaces. With so many people seeing family this holiday season, it seems a relevant topic to discuss!

Are You Overgiving? How To Stop Betraying Your Own Boundaries and Honour Your Own Capacity | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 217

Are you overgiving? Are you having a hard time stopping? If so - or if you've experienced this in the past with others or within yourself - you won't want to miss this episode. Overgiving can come from a lack of boundaries, poor self-regulation, refusing to pour into and nourish ourselves, and a desire to be loved, accepted, and valued. Stop overgiving and reclaim your power and personal sovereignty. In this episode, I talk about why people overgive, how to stop overgiving, and how to slow down and pay attention to what your own body is telling you about your own capacity.

Your Boundaries Are About You and Controlling Your Own Behaviour, NOT Controlling Other People | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 201

As therapy speak becomes more common, I've noticed that many people have a total misunderstanding of what boundaries actually are. People will complain about 'boundaries' when other people don't behave how they want them to. But - newsflash - boundaries are at their core really about US, and our behaviour: the one thing we do have control over. In this episode, I talk about what boundaries are, and how best to think about and enact them.

Love Is Not Enough: Abuse and Dysfunction Aren't Healthy Love (Thoughts After Watching the Gabby Petito Documentary) | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 196

Is love enough? 'Love' has been a word/concept people in abusive and dysfunctional relationships often use to stay in the relationships they're in. This is a bad idea. In this episode of Secrets of a Witch - with thoughts inspired by binge-watching the recent Netflix documentary on abused and murdered young woman Gabby Petito - I explain why.

This Full Moon in Leo, Step Into the Light of Who You Are | February Full Moon 2025 | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 195

Today, we have a gorgeous full moon in Leo. In this episode, I talk about how this full moon is the perfect opportunity to step into the full luminosity and brightness of who you are. Stop living in the shadows, and reconsider your connections with people that do. Life is too short to be lived by half measures; life is too short and too beautiful to be dishonest or in shame about who you are, who you want, and who you want to be. The only way to have it all is to be authentic, self-loving, and honest: double lives are sure to crash. An important full moon in Leo message, right in time for Valentine's Day!

When We Live Honest Lives We Create Space for Acceptance and Love | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 194

For many, it can be so tempting to live a secret life. Being our true, honest selves can be scary: will anyone accept us in our mess? Will we get called out by friends and family for behaving badly or acting out of line? Would anyone truly love us if they knew all our kinks, desires, mistakes, and ugly points? When no one knows who we truly are, we insulate and isolate ourselves. When our friends, family, and community don't know who we actually are behind closed doors or what we're going through, it's easy to delude ourselves that everything is all good. Self-isolation is an unhealthy avoidance tactic: when we do this, we avoid both the possibility for true love and acceptance (and growth), and also having to be accountable (and perhaps make amends) for who we truly are. In this episode, I talk about why it's so much better to live an honest, transparent and vulnerable life, than one hidden in the darkness and the shadows.

What I Learned From A Situationship Ending (and Giving Ourselves Grace When We Break Our Own Rules) | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 193

I share about what I learned from an ill advised situationship blowing up in my face. I broke some of my own rules, I knew better, and I played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. What red flags did I ignore? What did I learn from the experience? I mean, how DOES someone who made a podcast episode (two years ago!) about how bad and pointless situationships are, kinda end up in one? Listen to this episode to hear all about it (red flags of situationships or early dating) and learn from my mistakes so you don't make them. I also talk about how many of us know better yet break our own rules, and how it's so important to give ourselves grace, compassion, love, and forgiveness as we move forward with lessons and self worth.

Play, Fear, Experimentation, and Writing Rules for Our Lives | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 192

This episode is about testing out our internal algorithms, our standard operating procedures, and the rules and regulations by which we lead our lives. I outline four of the main ways we - in my opinion - create these rules, and I discuss a recent example of breaking one of my own long-standing rules, how that went, and what I learned. What are the rules that create the boundaries of your own life? This episode will give you a lot to think about as you ponder your own life and circumstances.

Authenticity and Loss: You Can’t Have One Without the Other | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 182

In this episode, I talk about the relationship between authenticity and loss, and how they are truly inseparable and intertwined. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I also discuss the importance of honouring others in their authenticity, even if it means they aren’t for us and we aren’t for them.

Understanding Authenticity Through the Lens of Plastic Surgery | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 181

Somehow the thing my haters love to dunk on me the most is how I’ve had plastic surgery. Yes I have! And I have absolutely no shame about it. In this episode I talk about why plastics are soooo triggering to some people, the nature of authenticity, and how we can see plastics (and other stuff) as intentional acts of self-creation.

Spring Cleaning, March Reset, and Movement Away From Radicalism | The Secrets of a Witch Podcast with Sabrina Scott episode 170

Hi friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed these first few days of March. It’s sunny as hell here in Toronto, and I’ve begun by doing a complete reset and reorganization of my space. In this episode I talk about spring cleaning as a form of magic and energetic refresh and reset, and I also get into a little of what disturbed me so much last week that I couldn’t do my weekly tarot over on YouTube. The TLDR, radicalism and the celebration of hurting one self has disturbed me so much, and I share some thoughts on that as well.
