In this episode, I discuss how the feminist magazine Jezebel paid Etsy witches to curse Charlie Kirk, and use this to get into a larger issue in the witchcraft and pagan community at large right now - the idea that it is ethical to curse someone for a difference of opinion. The quest for "political purity" within left wing woke witchcraft communities is something we should all be denouncing. Witches are too concerned with aggressively wielding power against those they don't like, and need to take some time and space to ground ourselves in ethics and true morals, and remember what witchcraft is really about - healing ourselves and living a good life. Witchcraft is not about cursing people we disagree with, period.
Read MoreIn this episode, I continue discussing the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and I talk about the witchcraft community's response to it. Many famous witches have been celebrating Charlie's murder, and mere days before the assassination, the feminist magazine Jezebel paid some Etsy witches to curse/hex Charlie Kirk. As witches, we should not be condoning this behaviour, and it is important we extricate this rot and toxicity from witchcraft spaces; this work is unethical.
Read MoreIn this episode, I begin by remembering the souls who passed on 9/11, and move on to talk about the horrific rise of assassination culture and murder as spectacle, with the recent murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Regardless of what your politics are, we should all be horrified and upset that someone was gunned down - intentionally - for exercising their right to free speech, basically for having even-handed, logical, calm debates with opposing parties out in public. Diversity of thought is foundational to a functioning and healthy democracy; we are all at risk when it becomes commonplace for public intellectuals to get assassinated for their speech. I also talk about grievance culture on the far left, as well as the emotional and intellectual fragility that would cause people to wish to (and justify) lashing out violently against those they disagree with. A heavy but important episode for people of all political persuasions.
